  • 28.04.2021 – 15:00 – 16:00 Uhr: Possibilities of an interactive 3D environment for communication
  • 19.05.2021 – 15:00 – 16:00 Uhr: Consequences for the landscape of different choices in the strategy for the heat transition

Possibilities of an interactive 3D environment for communication (28.04.2021 – 15:00 – 16:00 Uhr):

We will show what tools are available to make the general audience understand the impact on the landscape of ‚plans‘. These are techniques like 3D-modelling, Virtual Reality, and Augmented Reality.

These techniques can be used in different settings: in physical meetings where ideas are presented and discussed, in live online (corona proof) meetings which can also be interactive, on-site in the field using smartphones and tablets for AR, and offline.

We show how an interactive session using virtual reality could work using a sample case. In this example sessions the participants can react to a plan and these reactions are immediately visualised in 3D (interactive 3D modelling).

Consequences for the landscape of different choices in the strategy for the heat transition (19.05.2021 – 15:00 – 16:00 Uhr):

We will explore the effects on the landscape when adopting different strategies, namely: going all-electric, the hybrid heat-net option and the biomass option.

In many solutions the heat pump plays a central role, either at an individual level or in a district heating system. However, these heat pumps require a lot of green electricity; mostly when it is cold. The heat pumps are needed most in winter when the mainly wind power is available, increasing the need for many wind turbines.

  • Can we reduce the number of wind turbines needed?
  • How much land would be needed for collection of solar heat or biomass?

We will use a 3D-modelling suite (Win3D) to visualise the effects on the landscape and the consequences for the people living in that landscape. Many people find maps of infrastructure too abstract. This way we can show the impact on the landscape because of the choices made for a heating strategy.
